Making Money With AdSense by Joel Comm
However you feel about the credibility controversy, the whole thing of whether you can believe the payment proofs offered on the sales page for the all-new 3rd (heavily revised) Edition of Joel Comm’s best-selling Adsense ebook - let there be no doubt.
This is the real thing, the genuine article: how to make serious part-time or full-time income as a Google Adsense revenue publisher.
In truth, there shouldn’t be any controversy. I’m referring to a couple of discussion forum threads where Internet marketing wannabees have been slagging author Joel Comm unfairly, accusing him of faking the evidence he offers as proof of his success as an Adsense revenue publisher.
Like a lot of other online entrepeneurs, I’ve started making a significant chunk of my Internet income from developing content websites monetized by Google’s AdSense program (and/or Yahoo Publisher and/or Chitika). So lately, I’ve been snapping up every high-quality resource, tool, tutorial and cheat sheet I can lay my hands on about Adsense publishing.
Now the first thing I do when I’m evaluating a new product purchase is research the product and its credibility. I search Google for comments and reviews about the product, and about the company or individual behind the product. I recommend this step to everyone, by the way, especially in the area of Internet marketing products. There is a lot of crap out there, and some of it is expensive!
When I got wind of today’s launch of the new and completely revised edition of Joel Comm’s highly-regarded What Google Never Told You About Making Money with AdSense eBook, I went through my usual routine. And to my surprise, I found some pretty negative stuff. Not about the content of the book, but about the claims Joel makes regarding his Ad Sense earnings. Check the sales page for Making Money with Adsense and you’ll see what I mean. Wow: more than $23,000 in Adsense earnings for one month at the end of 2005! Who wouldn’t want to learn how an expert with those kind of results goes about his business?
Problem is, there are plenty of skeptics around, and they like to put down anyone who succeeds beyond their limited imaginations. If you really want to check this out for yourself, you can find the discussion in question at SitePoint’s Webmaster Forums. There is a similar (but more intelligent!) thread in the AssociatePrograms.com forum. In both cases, you have to wade through a lot of garbage to find the interesting stuff, including Joel Comm’s own sensible replies to the criticisms.
As you’ll see, the criticisms are pretty ridiculous, although they do bring up an interesting question for anyone marketing a product online and writing a sales page. These proofs of results, usually screen shots of checks and earnings statements, are becoming more and more common in sales letters. And I think maybe we sales copywriters need to be aware of how negatively this approach may be received by some readers.
Let me not be too critical of Joel’s sales page though. It’s really a great sales letter, and the huge number of testimonials Joel includes are totally convincing evidence of the quality of this eBook. Even for those who just can’t believe the results the author gets.
So of course, I bought the book. And to make a long story short, it’s every bit as good as the sales page says it is.
Naturally, the book covers all of the basics: how to work with the AdSense program, how to set up quality niche sites with your Adsense code, the pros and cons of the various available Google ad units and display options, and so forth. And then it goes way beyond, into advanced topics that will be useful to just about anyone, including experienced Ad Sense publishers. For example, there’s a whole 15-page section (the full book is nearly 200 pages) dealing with the intricacies of controlling the ads Google feeds to your site, with tweaks to keyword optimization, copy on the page, blocking specific ads and lots more. There are extensive chapters on how to build content, tracking and analyzing your Ad Sense traffic and clicks, and staying in Google’s good books (ie not getting banned!).
For anyone who isn’t sure Making Money With AdSense is advanced enough, Joel Comm throws in some great bonuses that take the learning that much deeper. There’s a supplementary eBook report presenting a dozen Case Studies, a newsletter, free membership in Joel’s own Adsense Publisher private coaching program, and a trial of his high-powered new tracking system called AdSense Detective.
It all adds up to a terrific package at a fair price. I give my highest recommendation to this system, both for newcomers to the Adsense publishing business, and to veterans looking for advance tactics to maximize revenues.
